The FERN DESIGN Story . . .

The ferns grow thick and tall in our high canopied forest of aspens, maple, and oak.  There are many different types of ferns too, contributing to the lush green appearance of the forest floor.  Some are very tall, standing up on bare stalks, with only the ends full of delicate leaves.  Some are very short, gushing out from the ground in a thick spray of green leaves.  Each tiny gossamer leaf sprouts from each frond of the fern, and each frond reaches up to the sky, some kissed with sunlight, and dancing with bright green hues.  Others are submerged in shadow emoting a deep, dark, strong green.   The ferns are so prolific as to create a rolling lake of dappled green tempting me out for a swim in the forest.

I knew that I had to create a textile that could capture the beautiful rhythm of these ferns in our forest, with sunlight splashes and deeper tones, with angles forever reaching up to kiss the sky. This design is woven in a twill weave structure by skilled artisans with the Scandinavian aesthetic influencing every beat of the loom.
